Ok here goes,
I did not know but Okaloosa County has a DMR repeater. I know it is popular in Santa Rosa and Escambia counties. What is the best equipment to learn on? WAIT!!! Tricky question. Think like this. New tech's get cheap radios to learn on and then advance. Looking for similar options with DMR as long as programming is not a headache.

I just got a DMR capable radio. Just have to figure out how to set it up and use it. Hello YouTube. 🙂
@km4vky Unfortunately it can sometimes be a little harder than that. I tried last year to get a tyt md380 up an running with a local codeplug. Never was able to get it working. I had to go see Larry K4LWC to program it for me. Five Flags Radio club used to have a DMR setup at their meetings. If all else fails contact your local club. If someone has the same radio as you sometimes you can just clone it.
Ultimately I decided it wasn't something I was really interested in as there are so many things in amatuer radio to play with.

I did get it working. Then failed to get out of it to normal FM. Ended up resetting the radio. I may be using it with ARES so I do need to learn it. Thanks Nosaj.
